Last day of our 2011 trip. A day in San Francisco. One of our favorite cities. Diane and I lived there in the late 80's, early 90's. Destination #1 Chinatown, for some dim sum. We got a bit lost, Diane was not impressed.
Then we went to the Exploratorium. We loved bring visitors here when we lived in SF. Fun, hands on science museum.
Bart playing with a big bubble sheet.
A nice lesson about light and color. Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta.
Bart making a big big bubble!
Alex on the static electricity generator. Looks like a Koala.
Diane's long hair was much more dramatic. Thats some serious static!
Smoke used to illustrate convection of air.
Then we went to Ocean Beach and met Greg to enjoy one last CA sunset. The boys played with the setting sun.
Bart grabbed it between his thumb and forefinger.
Together they conjured up a Kamakamakaaaaaa.
The same scene from another angle (with flash)
For our final dinner we went to Ebisu. The place where I learned about sushi in the early 90's. Steve the owner (for the past 40 years) happened to be there and were were able to catch up.
Bart was not excited by the amazing uni. But Diane, Greg, and I were happy we didn't have to share. The fresh, live uni was a special treat.
Greg really liked it!
As did Diane. You can see that Alex was thrilled about the uni treat.
The urchins themselves were monsters.
Next day as we flew home we got a glimpse of Mono Lake as we came over the Sierras.
The boys are real flying veterans at this point. We had a nice, nonstop flight home.
There's always something...... We arrived home to bind a broken pine tree in our backyard. A bit of work and we had some more firewood. Could have been worse.
