Lake Powell

This was something we had always wanted to do.  House boat on Lake Powell.  Seemed like it would be a nice, simple way to relax.

Here is our first night parking spot.  More complicated than you might think to park for the night.  Need a sandy spot, that is pretty deep close to shore to be able to pull houseboat in and out.

Simple enough to drive.  But moves pretty slow.  Too much time driving from one spot to another.

Plenty of time for everyone to take a turn driving and most of the time there was really no traffic.

We dragged a powerboat for excursions.

The powerboat could also pull a tube.  The boys loved it.

They even went on together.

Our overnight spot near Dangling Rope Marina.  We stayed for 2 nights which gave us a chance to relax and enjoy some activities.  It was as far as we drove the houseboat.  About 40 miles from the marina where we started.

Diane and Alex enjoyed a swim.

Bart went out in the inflatable Kayak.

It was a beautiful spot.

It was also our launching point for a ride to Rainbow Bridge.  Biggest natural arch in the world.  It was about a 45 minute trip in the powerboat.

There was a nice hike to the arch.  Got a bit hot in the sun.

Quite impressive.

Looking up from below.

The arch from the other side.

Overall the house boat was a wonderful adventure.  But is was also an educational experience.  Lots of navigating and searching for a place to dock for the night.

We had a fantastic time.

Need to come back some day.  With out experience, we will be able to have more fun with less work.
